Jerome 15th in Rasnov Premier

RASNOV, Romania (March 1) – Jessica Jerome (Park City, UT) jumped into 15th Saturday at the World Cup premier of the Rasnov ski jumping venue. Jerome was the only U.S. athlete to compete in the event after Lindsey Van (Park City, UT) injured her left knee during a training jump Friday. Sara Takanashi of Japan took the victory on the new hill. The women will compete in a second normal hill World Cup Sunday at the Romanian venue.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jessica Jerome (Park City, UT) jumped into 15th Saturday at the World Cup premier of the Rasnov ski jumping venue.
  • Jerome was in the 20th spot after her first 84.5-meter jump, but pulled out an 88-meter jump in the second round to boost her into 15th.
  • She was the only U.S. athlete to compete in the event after Lindsey Van (Park City, UT) injured her left knee during a training jump Friday.
  • Van is set to return to the U.S. to undergo further medical evaluation.
  • Sara Takanashi of Japan took the victory on the new hill with Maren Lundby of Norway and Yuki Ito of Japan finishing second and third.
  • The women will compete in a second normal hill World Cup Sunday at the Romanian venue.
