BIOGRAPHY:
Following his high school graduation, Noah Hoffman gave himself a year to try his hand at competitive cross country. Thanks to that leap of faith, in 2009 Hoffman was the second fastest American in the U.S. Championship 50K classic. He upped the ante in 2010, making an appearance at the U23 Championships for a top-20 finish, and he exceeded expectations at the U.S. Championship level with a fifth in the 15K freestyle. Hoffman's growth carried into 2011, as he completed his first full season on the World Cup circuit while collecting another podium at the U.S. Championships, finishing third in the 30k freestyle.
NOAH SAYS:
The 2011 season was a big step in the right direction for me. I solidified some changes to my technique, improved my consistency and made big steps in international racing. I had some amazing race opportunities this year including the World Championships in Oslo, Norway. It was the coolest event I’ve ever been a part of. I’m really looking forward to next year and beyond to continue to improve internationally.
FIRST TRACKS:
Hoffman remembers the long drives from his childhood home in Evergreen, CO, to the ski slopes and, at the age of four, having to yell at his parents to wait for him. A cross country runner in sixth grade, Hoffman decided to try out a pair of skinny skis instead and the new sport stuck.
OFF THE SNOW:
Off the snow I enjoy reading, being a fan of other sports and hanging out with friends and family. I also enjoy playing other sports including tennis, alpine skiing and soccer. I try to stay as connected as possible with the outside world by reading the newspaper and listening to the radio.
